Wow it has been a long time since I posted on here.
Not that I have many people who read this lol
Anyway, I finished Uni about three weeks ago which is very EXCITING!!!! I have now given myself a deadline of the end of next year to get a full time job so I will be spending a lot of time doing resumes as most jobs want experience so I'm prepared to get a whole lot of rejection letters before an acceptance (or even an interview). One of my friends got to interview with her application which is good. She didn't get the job but just getting to that stage is impressive and makes me think my resumes must be OK since I was the one who told her how to write one. Obviously the student has surpassed the teacher lol, or maybe there is the fact she has more experience than me as she scored a block of teaching somewhere for a year. for now I'm happy to just do casual teaching work though but term one next year will be difficult.

I'm also trying to persue acting a little more actively now as not having a full time job at this time gives me more flexibility to go to acting related things. So I now have an agent and on Sunday am going to visit a casting director to do a one day workshop of mock castings. Should be interesting as this casting agent casts many roles in Australian TV and was the person who gave Cate Blanchette (sp?) her first starring role. Not expecting to be a movie star or anything but it would be nice to score a commercial or even just walk in the background of something so I can say "that's me on TV!" lol.

Other news I've stared dating a nice guy. So far so good. I haven't got sick of him yet which is unusual for me as I am usually someone who gets annoyed or uncomfortable around boys quickly and most of my "relationships" if you could even call them that last about 3 dates lol. Let's just say I have trust issues. So he has already broken my record of 4 dates and now we have gone on 5 dates on top of seeing each other twice a week anyway for church and bible study.

Working 9 to 5

Wed Aug 26, 2009, 11:08 PM
Well working from 8.30- 3 more like. I have got work from schools everyday this week (YAY).
I went to a school that I have never been to before and they must be desparate for casual teachers as I only faxed them my resume instead of going in personally and the first time I went there they gave me some dates in the future when they will need me. I even have days organised with them for as late as December!!!
It's a nice school too which is always a plus and big meaning i should get lots of work there as that means at least once a week someone should have a sick day right?

Hmmm in other news uni is going OK. Only 9 weeks to go then I'm finished for good!!! And one of those weeks is recess week ;)
Can't wait! I have enjoyed uni but I'm over it now. Most of my friends left last year but since I did part-time I'm still there. Not that I regret part time as it suits my lifestyle much better than full-time ever did.

Uni is back!

Tue Jul 28, 2009, 5:06 PM
Well uni is back which is a bummer but this is my last session so the end is in sight! I keep reminding myself that it is only 14 weeks to go (including the study week).

So far I have been to one of my seminars which is on Gender and Social Justice. It seems to be an interesting subject although the lecturer was late and apparently has a reputation of being late and sometimes not even showing up O_O. The late part I don't mind as it means that if I get work at a school that day I don't have to stress too much if I don't get to uni spot on 3.30 but the not showing up would annoy me as I don't want to drive all the way to uni (40mins-1hour away) for something that doesn't happen. Unfortunately the subject has a pairs assignment and I don't know anyone all that well. I asked a girl who appeared to be in the same boat if she wanted to go with me so that is settled. I just hope she is a good reliable person.

Next subject is this afternoon which is about children with disabilities and how to program for them etc. I did a similar subject when I went on exchange in Canada so hopefully this will have similar assignments.

Those are the only subjects I have (the joy of being a part-time student :D).

Got a high school reunion coming up in August. Should be interesting to see what everyone is up to these days. No idea what to wear, if only it was in summer as I have lots of nice dresses but no they stuck it in winter :( Not even sure if it is something one would get very dressed up for since it's in an RSL. Seems a silly thing to be contemplating now but since I was in a group labelled "the conservative party" in high school (in other words the strange slightly nerdy people lol) it would be nice to show them I do indeed have style lol. Considering that's probably my biggest problem at the moment though things are pretty good.

I have been stimulated!

Hee hee the title sounds so naughty!
I got my stimulus package of $900 from the Prime Minister last week :) This is very good for me as its more than doubled how much money was previously in my bank account.
I had all these wonderful plans on how to spend it (as the point of getting it is to stimulate the economy by buying crap), but now I think I will probably just buy 1 or two clothing items and save the rest for eating out and day-to-day life.

I had 3 assignments due on Monday so I'm glad that days over with. One of the assignments was a presentation and one of the people in the group didn't do what he was suppose to do!! We were talking about Australian music and had decided we would all speak about different aspects of it. The first girl talked about what it is. I talked about indigenous Australian Music the next lady talked about Australian Folk music and he was suppose to talk about contemporary. Instead he just wrote some slides saying "what is australian music?" and "why teach it?" which was all covererd by the first speaker.
We were not pleased so now we have to complain about him so our marks arn't jeopardised. I hate to do it as although he didn't do the right thing I feel mean as I know he has to pass this year as the course is being phased out and he failed some stuff last year. But I guess he should have put the work in like the rest of us....

I have just finished dog sitting for a friend which was fun apart from the dog weeing on the carpet which I couldn't quite get out but they didn't seem too concerned. Oh and also I forgot which day they were coming back so I was surprised to see them when I walked in the door one day and very embarrassed as if I had remembered when they were returning I would have cleaned my crap up and washed the sheets and given the illusion that I was a neat and tidy person.
Oh well they didn't seem to mind but I was feeling really humiliated. I will probably look back on it and laugh one day.

As for today I'm going to put some more resumes in at local schools to get some work and some $$$ as I haven't had much work from schools this year.

My sister got engaged on Sunday !!!
Her boyfriend took her on a picnic and popped the question. Apparently got down on one knee too so that is good as I think it would have been disappointing if he didn't do that!
The ring is nice. It's a solitary diamond on a gold bank. The claw-like thing that holds the diamond in place is silver. So very simple and pretty.

I am going to be the maid of honor at the wedding too so I'm looking forward to that. I've never been to a wedding before and now I get to be in bridal party :D Mostly right now I'm looking forward to going wedding gown shopping with her and Mum :D

In other less exciting news I went to uni today and was told I couldn't do the subject I was in as it is a subject for secondary teachers not primary school teachers. This is annoying as the subject was on a campus not far from my home and when I enrolled it said there were no pre reqs so that made me think it was open for everyone. Anyway I have found another subject to do (an artsy one) on Mondays which is the same day as my other subject so that's something. I hope there arn't any group or paired assignments as the first tute was on monday so I missed the first one so won't have a partner!! I hate group and paired work.
